... It's a beautiful thing to finally find what you have been looking for after searching, and researching and reading and asking . . . That's what happened with me and how I eventually came upon this amazing appliance.

For the longest time, I've been looking for a device which can make coffee & tea - hot chocolate is a bonus and not a necessity. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond, K-Mart, Walmart, Target and dozens of other stores I cannot even begin to recall.

I'll cut to the point: I found this 3-in-1 beverage center, purchased it immediately and could not possibly be happier. The electric tea kettle boils quickly, has 4 different temperature settings: Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate or Boil. It brings the water to the proper temperature quickly, is easy to clean and easy to use.

Also, I am partial to French Press coffee makers, which always seem to make the best coffee. If you haven't had a French Press before, get this. It's more than worth it and will make some fantastic coffee.

I could not be happier with this purchase and highly recommend it to everyone looking for an all-in-one device. ...

One big difference, brews 4 cups at about 1 cup/minute and the final coffee is very hot. Much hotter than your typical drip maker. ... This is a good buy for the buck. It is a very basic appliance, good for me, a basic type person. The only thing that I find that could use improvement is that the pouring spout is too small so you have to pour it out very slowly or it will drip all over your counter. It does take a longer time to brew then all of the other coffee makers that I have had in the past, but the coffee comes out great, so it is worth it. The combination of the warming plate and the thermos allow the coffee to stand for several hours without destroying the fresh taste of the brew.

... Thankfully I didn't spend my own money on this coffee maker as it was purchased by the receptionist at my office, because if I had, I would have gone back the very same day it was unpacked.

First off, the carafe is impossible to pour without spilling water/coffee everywhere, esp. with a full pot. Try as I may, the minute you start pouring, the bulk of the liquid starts running down the side of the pot as opposed to in the cup.

Second, and most importantly, the coffee from this device tastes like absolute garbage. The same coffee I use at home in my Cuisinart that tastes wonderful is somehow transformed into bitter-tasting black sludge in the B&D model. Granted, I don't expect miracles here, but it should at least be drinkable.

Bottom line: don't waste your money on this piece of crap. Anything has to be better than this. ...

... I had been using a Cuisenart 14 cup coffee maker, drinking about 2 to 3 cups a day, and grinding my own beans every few days. I did my usual research on amazon and decided for the price, the Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 was worth a try. Yes - it is mostly plastic, so thanks to the reviewers for pointing that out. ... I had a Melitta MEMB1B for a few years and loved the coffee and machine. When it finally started leaking too much, I replaced it with the "smart" mill and brew. Smart machine maybe, but I was a stupid idiot for buying it (and paying WAAAAY more than my original wonderful Melitta. After only 3 or 4 weeks, the plastic posts on the carafe lid broke off. After about 1 1/2 months the weather and everything else stopped working, giving me error messages that something was not functioning and no info could be obtained. Yes, the carafe will leak EVERY time you pour a cup. And steam will escape when you pour and could burn your hand if not careful. The filter basket must be "locked" into place under a little protrusion in the back -- if it isn't then the coffee won't filter through and will back up, making a disaster of a mess. ... I have just purchased a Keurig Model B66 "Ultimate" and tried it out within the hour. My first opinions on this model are:

On a negative note... I found that the sound is noticeable when the unit is pumping the water into its heater. The individual K-Cup coffee containers while convenient, are costly per cup.

On the positive side... I drink black coffee and I feel that this unit does heat the water to a sufficient temperature and brews a drinkable cup of coffee very quickly. Another plus... Keurig also offers a solution for the "costly per cup servings" in that it sells a reusable coffee filter as an accessory. (This filter will permit you to use your own coffee which relates to a much lower cost per cup.)

My biggest regret about purchasing this particular model is that I didn't notice that the largest cup this unit brews is only ten (well 9.25) ounces... and not the twelve ounce mug size that I consider to be "my" standard size cup. In all fairness I can't find fault with Keurig for that because it clearly states the cup brewing size right on the back of the box. ...

Bunn VP17-2 BLK Pourover Coffee Brewer with 2 Warmers

I am not going to tell you the specifics of how a Bunn makes coffee; the previous reviewer did it very well and if you have ever eaten in a restaurant, doughnut shoppe, or coffee shop you have probably seen one.

I use the VP 17 in my home. You may ask why since this is really intended for commercial use. Well I have owned this unit for nearly four years without a hiccup. Grind the beans, pour the pre-measured amount of filtered (I made a mark with a permanent marker on the water jug) water and viola - the same identically made cup of coffee day after day in less than two minutes!!!

I mean I am drinking coffee in less time than most makers are just thinking about heating the water, and it is the same cup day after day after day. No surprises.

It does cost more than your usual home unit, but this thing is built like a Sherman Tank and if you actually needed it could produce enough coffee to take care of a small army. Four gallons an hour - can you imagine how long (like maybe days) it would take your average home coffee maker to brew that much coffee.

Like the other reviewer stated it is an extravagance but if you want to quickly and reliably brew your morning coffee it is a neat way to do it.

To sum it up a friend asked does it really make better coffee - to which I replied not only that but it looks damn COOL doing it. Makes a neat statement in addition to a great cup of joe.

P.S. I do home roast my beans and burr grind fresh every pot and man you have no idea how good a cup of coffee can taste. I know probably need to get a life....but hey sometimes simple is good. ...

... We were initially very pleased with this machine. It broke within the warranty period. Subsequently dealing with their "customer care" center has been anything but caring. We were first told that it would be no problem to repair the machine and at no cost to us, based on our serial number. Subsequently, we shipped it, at our expense, to the closest repair place as recommended by Tassimo (there are very few in Canada and none in Toronto). Tassimo is now refusing to cover the cost of the repair as promised or to help us further(they are now saying we were given incorrect information by their customer service representative and they will speak to him!). We have been given the runaround for 2 weeks by Tassimo's care center, costing us time and money in phone calls etc. Further, the machine with very moderate use, broke quickly! It just stopped working one morning after making a cup coffee. Do not buy this product if you expect it to last more than a year and more importantly if there is a problem Tassimo will not stand behind it's warranty or it's product. Too bad, we liked the machine and the coffee while it lasted. We will buy from a competitor next. We were a loyal, repeat customer, which was of no interest to this company. (Note; the repair would be about $70, which we certainly could afford but based on our experience, we will not deal with this company further.) Be very wary of what this company promises.
