Proctor Silex 48524 Coffee Maker

Opening for water is too narrow to fill without splashing all over the counter. Cover is flimsy. Top of the machine has a "brew regulator" for setting mild to strong brewing -- the instructions do not say (in any of three languages )which end of the dial is which, and the icon on the dial reveals nothing obvious. Reusable coffee-ground basket which came with machine arrived bent out of shape.

It does make coffee. The auto-pause works. The advertised feature on the box, proclaiming an on/off switch that actually lights up when "on" works really really well !

But all in all, a sloppy conception yielded a very sloppy machine. The people who designed and approved this thing for manufacture quite clearly never used it in a kitchen.

Black & Decker HCC100 Home Cafe Single Serve Coffee Brewing System, Black

Literally, your coffee will not be very hot w/this machine. I have to reheat in the microwave to be decent. And no frothy top like the Senseo, which I also have. But, hey, I got this one on sale for $8 - and now I know why LOL! My husband will use it for the to-go mug feature.
You pay more for the Senseo, but hands down you will get a better machine and an awesome cuppa joe with it.

Mr. Coffee FTXSS43GTF programmable 12-cup coffee maker.

If you don't like your coffee hot this is perfect for you. The model I bought is FTXSS43-2, purchased at wall-mart, it has a small rectangular clock and no adjustable warming plate. Its barely warm right after brewing, no way you can burn your mouth after taking a big guzzle, after adding cold cream I need to microwave it or drink it cold. I don't add that much cream either, just a little splash. I needed to add more coffee than before because I think the lower brewing temperature is not extracting the full flavor out of the beans. I wanted to like this thing because it looks really good, but why can't they make it brew at a higher temperature? I had a Hamilton Beach brew station deluxe prior to this model and it made very hot coffee. I'm taking this useless thing back, I like hot coffee. I think I will try a Cuisinart, they get great reviews.

Bunn-O-Matic GRX-W 10 Cup Home Pourover Coffee Brewer

I've used a Bunn coffee maker for a long time and have never had any trouble with them breaking or going bad. However, if you like real strong coffee or you grind you own to a real fine powder, or if you use decaf, the Bunn makes coffee too fast. It will run over and make a mess. For regular coffee its a great coffee maker. Coffee is ready in a snap.

Ariete Elisir Cafè

This espresso machine makes wonderful crema, 15 bar pump makes it perfect, I was thinking to get me a Gaggia Carezza, but it was $100 more of what I paid for this one, while the results are the same (or better if we consider price/quality) the body is plastic, but it is heavy and strong, This machine froths milk perfectly, it creates nice foam before boiling the milk, my only complaint is that the frother is so low that I have to use a short pitcher

BLDHCC100 Homecafe Coffee Brewer, 1 Cup, White

I bought one of these at a chain drug store. Wooo Hooo!! I thought; I have a single serve coffee machine. The machine quit working after 12 days. Yep, it didn't last until my next paycheck. Black and Decker doesn't make this abysmal machine. They let someone else make it and slap the B&D brand on it.
To be fair, the machine was great when it was working. It has an extra large water reservoir that lets you store enough water for 2-3 cups of coffee. Clean-up was a snap. You just take the podholder (and pod) and dump the used pod in the trashcan. I thought it made good coffee.

Saeco INCANTO SIRUIS Fully Automatic Espresso Machine, A-IS-SS

Within six months of having this machine we have had continual problems with it. Half the time it doesn't complete the grinding and brewing function. A call to customer service takes forever to get them to pick up the phone. We wish we would have bought it at Williams-Sonoma so we could get help and have a replacement machine. Now we are returning ours for repair which takes 6-8 weeks and will have no machine. When it works, it's great! When it doesn't, it sucks!

Primula Flowering Tea Set with 40-Ounce Pot with Glass Lid

I purchased this product after having tried the white tea (with peach), which was very nice with a subtle aroma of peach. However, the green tea with jasmine (which comes with this tea pot) has a very heavy scent and really smells like some cheap perfume. Not at all like I expected, or like anything I would want to drink. Watching the flower open is still nice and the tea would probably work if you want to put it in a spray bottle and spritz some on behind the ears before going out. Just don't expect to actually drink the stuff.

MR. COFFEE Ice Tea Replacement Pitcher

If you leave it out on the counter with the lid on, it grows mold VERY quickly. Like in a day and a half (I live in FL so that may have something to do with it - being so humid). So TAKE THE LID OFF. Back to Basics Smoothie Signature - Salpha 500

I have own two of these machines and purchased three others for family gifts. Everyone loves it. Be sure you are reviewing the correct model. We purchased a cheaper model that had a plastic base and it was worthless. They look alike, but they are completely different machines. One time I broke the spout. I called the manufacturer using the phone number on the booklet that came with the machine. The part was very inexpensive and came within a couple of weeks. Our first machine last over five years, and our second machine is going strong on its third year. When I use something every day I do not expect it to last forever. Five years seemed like reasonable length of service.

Grindmaster GPOD PrecisionBrewTM Single Cup Coffee/Tea Brewing System

We bought one of these for steady home use (about 6 cups total a day, max). The coffee is always nice and hot and the brew settings (med, strong, etc.) work well.

The problem with it is the design and where the controls are. No matter how careful you are, at some point coffee will spill from where the cup sits onto the controls. And try though you might, you'll never be able to dry it all up before it seeps into the various buttons. And, as you've probably figured out already, coffee and electronics don't mix.

To be fair, we've had the unit about a year. In the last week, the brew indicator light (which cycles through various colors to let you know the status of the chamber) has been wonky. It flashes through all the colors as if it's having a seizure. It will tell me the water chamber needs water though it's completely filled. I think it's finally giving up the ghost, and I'll be calling Customer Service soon. FWIW, I've googled some other reviews and this issue has apparently cropped up before with long-term users of the GPOD.

I'll likely check out the other types of one-at-a-time brewers soon, including some of the K Cup systems.

To be clear, I really do like how it brews coffee but it needs to be redesigned to avoid this type of problem.

Technivorm Moccamaster KBTS Coffee Maker

I have had this unit for four years and it is still going strong. The water temperature and shutoff on the filter housing make this the Ferarri of coffee makers. There is no timer, so you actually have to make the coffee. I like to let the filter fill with hot water with the flow restrictor shut. This allows me to stir the coffee and wet the entire contents, allowing it to absorb the water fully. I then allow the coffee to flow on the first setting (slow). If you don't mind a little labor, this is an amazing machine.

Bialetti Brikka 4 Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker 06988

Excellent coffeemaker! Makes perfect espresso. Don't be fooled by the size. Four cups means four tiny cups, one sip each. Don't plan on using this thing to make coffee for your friends. Maximum two people can enjoy this at a time and only if they are used to drinking coffee in European quantities.

One con: hard to clean and the old smell tends to linger, especially in the bottom part of the apparatus. Another, do not attempt to wash it in a dishwasher; though nothing dramatic, but the chrome plating is gone, which gave the thing older vintage look :-)

Dolce Gusto KP2102 Nescafe Dolce Gusto, Cream

Just moved from Europe and missing our Dolce Gusto machine badly - until last Friday! US model is improved in design and still delivers the great taste we love. Black coffee with authentic 'crema' or latte macchiato for a smoother drink.
The machine has a larger reservoir than the earlier version, uses less energy to make a cup of coffee than any other solution we have seen, can deliver multiple cups in quick succession and, if we forget to switch it off, it powers itself down after 20 minutes.
Just great! Grazie mille Nestlé!!

Typhoon Metro Red 6-Cup Espresso Maker

Like the other reviewers, I found this pot totally inferior to a Bialetti. In fact, I'd say it's a worthless product for two reasons. First, the coffee does not brew out in a quiet steady flow, as it should, but sputters from the time it first starts seeping out. You are supposed to hear the sputtering when it's time to turn off the burner, but because it's always sputtering you have to keep opening the lid (making a mess) to see when it's done. Second, and most critically, it brews so slowly that the coffee begins to burn (evident in the smell and taste) before it's even finished. I'm using proper heat and I'm not over-packing. I've been using various moka pots for years without these problems.

KitchenAid KPCM050PM Pro Line Single-Carafe Coffee Maker

I've had this product for about a year and I agree with most that it makes good coffee. But it has a couple of design issues. My first complaint is about the carafe which leaks water all over the place. I've ordered replacements several times and they all leak. Finally, in reading one of the reviews here, I learned why. You have to hand wash the carafe. It accumulates water between the wide plastic ring at the top of the carafe and the glass, which then leaks when brewing. This is not a steam issue...it is the carafe. The second issue is the plastic handle on the stainless steel brew basket. If you hold it by the handle when drying it, over time the handle loosens and then breaks off. Kitchenaid replaced it twice and I now know not to hold it by the handle if any force is being put on the handle such as when drying it. I also hand wash it just to be safe.

Farberware Select 10 Cup Programable Coffee Maker

I have to agree with the previous reviewer, the basket is flimsy, and the auto-shut off does not work unless you have used the Auto-on programmer. I left my house one day and forgot to shut it off, and came home to a house that smelled of burnt coffee to find a thin coating of sludge at the bottom of my coffeemaker. If I'd come home at all late that night it would have dried completely and possibly cracked the carafe, started a fire, or what I don't know - but I'm not willing to find out. The rest are design flaws but this is a serious safety flaw.

Saeco 00065 Incanto Rapid Steam SBS Fully Automatic Espresso Machine, Silver

I got hooked to the lattes at work (company bought us a Capresso espresso machine 3 years ago), and so I wanted to have one at home too so that I and my daughter can enjoy the lattes at home too). So, I researched lot of sites on internet, especially the Amazon, read the glowing reviews about the Saeco Incanto machine and decided to get that one. I researched a little more and found that Digital Kitchen store in Sammamish, WA was offering a $100 discount and a 2 year warranty, and placed an order with them (May 2007). A few days later, I received the unit from Cafe west distributing in Medford, Oregon.
The machine was a little complicated but I figured out the operation in a few days (the user manual was not very well written). It worked OK for a few months, and then started acting up (steam would not come out continuously, comes out in bursts), had to drain the coffee dredges tray almost every time, and then finally coffee stopped coming out in february '08(I was descaling the machine regularly and the descaling light never came on). So I called their repair service called 'Empire fulfilment' and they asked me to send the machine. After one month, I got the machine back and it worked OK for about 2 months, and then (July '08) the steam started escaping from the steam knob and the knob was getting very hot. After a few more days, the machine completely stopped working, would not even turn on. I called Empire Fulfilment again and they asked me to send the machine which I dutifully did. After about one month, I got the machine back (from the repair statement, I found that it was a major repair, they had to replace several parts including the control board).
This time the machine worked exactly for one month, and now water comes out of the steam wand when it is dispensing coffee. That is making the coffee weak. And after steaming the milk, the steam would not stop after closing the steam knob. The steam keeps coming. I am pretty sure this is going to lead into a major problem again. I sent a e-mail to Empire fulfilment and am waiting for their return authorization so that I can send the machine to them again.

I don't know if all those people that gave the 4 or 5 star reviews are still happy with this machine, but for sure I am not. It is ridiculous that I spent $800 for this machine and not able to enjoy the coffee for any length of time. We have the Capresso espresso machine in our office for 3 years now, and about 20 people use it every day, and we never had any problem so far, and I buy this Saeco Incanto machine for my home use, and may be use 3 cups of coffee max per day, and it keeps breaking down. I still have 6 or 7 months of warranty left, and once the warranty runs out, there is no point in getting the machine repaired if it has problem after that.

What I can't figure out is, so many people gave it 4 or 5 stars to this machine and I am having such a bad experience. Are all those people lucky and I am not? Did I get a lemon? Do I have any recourse from the manufacturer? Please send me some comments if you can help me. I shelled out $800, for some people it may not be very significant amount but for me it is a lot of money. I don't know how I decided to doll out that kind of money for a coffee machine, but here I am.

I would greatly appreciate if you send me some suggestions.

Thanks

Percolator - Cordless - 12 cup - Brushed Stainless

I have had this model of coffee pot for 9 years. I use this pot every day. I love it and have no complaints. Yes, I have had to replace the little plastic knob that screws into the lid of the pot, but it was only about $2.75 (ordered from the internet). I have had NO other problems with it. I always use the round 3 1/4" paper filter disks I buy at our local supermarket. They are in the coffee filter section of the market. They fit perfectly in the bottom of the basket. I don't get any grounds in my coffee cup or in the perked coffee. People have commented on how good the coffee tastes. The quality of the coffee is suburb!!!!

Tazo Tea Earl Grey Box Of 6 20's

Tazo shows considerable expertise in the blending of this top quality tea. The black teas utilized are, as the box states, "the worlds most sought after teas from the high-elevation gardens of Nuwara Eliya, Uva and Dimbula in Sri Lanka and Assam in northeast India." These sumptuous black teas provide the perfect complement to the strong bergamot essence in this blend.

The fragrance of Tazo Earl Grey is powerfully floral, in particular lavender, citrus, and the woodsy-malt scent of premium black tea. The flavor of this splendid potion is refreshing and perfumed. The addition of cream creates a lush sensual brew. A topnotch tea blend!

Earl Grey is considered to be the second most popular tea in the world. Traditionally Earl Grey is created from a blend of black teas, usually Chinese and Indian teas, sometimes with a smoky flavor, and scented with the citrus fruit bergamot. Earl Grey tea has an interesting history. Legend has it that the first tea scented with bergamot oil was presented to Lord Grey from a Chinese mandarin whose son was saved from drowning by one of Lord Grey's men. Twinings and Jacksons of Piccadilly both claim to be the first to have commercially blended this tea.

Thermos Nissan 34-Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless-Steel Gourmet Coffee Press

Bearing in mind that other stainless presses sell for $70, this one at $30 is great.

Some people have complained about sediment. Just increase grind size and also realize, this is a trait of French Presses to a degree. It is a bit of a trade-off for the balanced smooth coffee. My expensive glass press also leaches a bit of the coffee grinds into the beverage.

I have now used this unit for about a year. It delivers day after day great coffee. My old coffee maker has not returned. I have tried several other solutions I received as gifts and have returned to this. In fact, I am drinking a cup of coffee right now I made in the press.

People complaining about how hot it keeps the coffee are ridiculous folk. It does a great job for about 1-1 1/2 hours and it is still drinkably hot after 2. At that point, you don't want the coffee sitting in with the grinds anyway. If you need to warm it up, throw it in the micro or pour it into the coffee maker you will no longer use and turn on the burner.

To filter sediment, if it really annoys you, pour it through a cheap coffee filter.

I honestly find the coffee in this pot the most consistent and among the best coffee I have had...anywhere. It even makes a great cup out of canned coffee for those days you are too lazy to fiddle with beans and a grinder.

It is also incredibly durable. Great for travel. And while it doesn't look as elegant as the $70 models, it looks great in our new stainless steel kitchen.

GSI Sierra 3 Cup Coffee Pot

Blue enamel is pretty: pot is cute. Lid doesn't "sit" properly, pot uneven at base so it wobbles while perking. The stem, basket and inner lid are so thin, I can bend them with two fingers of the same hand. Coffee grounds fall right through the "holes" of the basket. Coffee always has grounds in it, so much so, I am "straining" the coffee through a baking seive just to be able to drink it. Haven't returned item because it would cost me more than the pot itself to do so. Will probably end up using it for silk-flower arrangement or watering plants.

Commercial Style Coffee Maker Stainless Steel Carafe

Brews a perfect pot of coffee and keeps it nice and hot in its strong, durable double walled insulated carafe. There is no continuous cooking/burning from a hot plate like in other coffee makers. First thing that you're gonna do when you open it is to caress that carafe all inside and out, just marveling at it's sturdiness and quality construction! Having said that, the rest of the body quality doesn't keep up quite as well as the carafe...but what the heck.
Here's the best part! Not only do I brew coffee, I throw in a bag of green tea (or any other tea bag) depending on mood and enjoy hours of tea refills!! Now where did I set down my book?...

Bosch TCA6301UC Full Automatic Coffee Espresso Cappuccino And Tea Machine Benvenuto B30, TCA6301

I like the machine overall. I would buy it again. Some of the shortfalls is the coffee is not very hot and has to be heated in the microwave if you add cream. The XL cup is like a medium size cup. I usually make two cups and pour into one cup. The cleaning tablets and filters are expensive. The water filter cost $14 and needs to be changed every two months (with two coffee drinkers in my house /7 cups per day). I enjoy the variety of coffee beans I choose and like the convenience.

Bodum 3001-581USA Santos 12-Cup Vacuum Brewer, Graphite Blue

I'm online to buy my fourth Bodum Electric Santos coffee maker. There is no coffee maker, anywhere, with a more attractive design. However, even if it was ugly, I'd still buy another. The taste of the coffee is perhaps equaled by some commercial equipment such as that which Starbucks uses. However their product seems to vary and coffee from the Santos is great every time. Since I also like tea and the taste of tea is even more variable than coffee, I tried buying a new Santos for tea brewing only, even though neither Bodum nor any other source was recommending the unit as a tea maker. After trying the new unit I was amazed that tea could taste so good and even more surprised that Bodum and it's retailers were not touting the Santos as an electric tea maker. I have never found any other tea maker that was electric and could be programmed and that would turn on and off at my preset times. The Bodum does all this and more and makes better tea than traditional methods, most of which I've tried many times, in many corners of the world.
On the down side the Santos has a hard to clean heating element base, and the seal around this element gives out after 1.5 to 2 years of use. Apparently it can't be repaired, so I've resigned myself to not worrying about it and not begrudging the approximately 10 cents per day
that I pay for privilege of drinking the best tea brewed anywhere. I wish the unit lasted longer. Bodum's had a number of years to improve it, so hopefully they will be rewarding our loyalty with a new unit that not only lives up to its European heritage of quality but also the old world standard of longevity. If you want common tasting coffee or tea, buy a common coffee maker, otherwise buy the Bodum Santos and both you and your guests will share an uncommon delight, day after day, for many, many, many days to come.

Ear-Bud with Clip-On Hybrid Headphones

I wanted headphones (or earphones) which are light and comfortable. I am not generally comfortable with earphones as they keep falling off. Then I bought these. These are very light, comfortable and smart looking. The construction of these is solid.

The sound from these is awesome. The sound comes out balanced and there is minimal leakage from these. I have used them for over 2 years now and they have been great all throughout.

The brand Audio-Technica speaks for itself. They are expensive but worth the money. Would definitely recommend this product.

COFFEE ROASTER KIT barbecue BBQ rotisserie for green coffee beans

This is an excellent product for roasters who want to crack their coffee beans old school. I've roasted beans (even peaberry) in it over coals and it does very well with batches up to 3 pounds. You can roast 5 pounds in the basket but be prepared for a long wait to the first crack depending upon your roasting temperature. I could suggest one design improvement in the lid. Currently, the lid is attached with a spring and a spring-hinge. You must remove the rotisserie rod to open the basket. It may be better to use two pull-pressure springs. That way, you could just release the springs, loosen the thumb-screw and pull the lid straight off. The four prongs are strong enough to hold the basket in place to pour and de-chaff. There are a lot of positives to this product. I built my own fire-roaster that can roast 5lbs of high quality beans for under $200.00.

Hormel(R) Swirl Design Carafe, 40 Oz., White

This is a really, really lousy product. First, it doesn't keep the coffee very hot. Then, it drips, but not just onto the countertop. It drips down and gets caught in a horizontal seam around the widest part of its "belly," where it creates a dark brown stain, so that the carafe always looks dirty. So, you have lukewarm coffee in a messy container. Unfortunately, you can't get your money back, because you bought it through Amazon, which doesn't vouch for its products.

SBK149899 - Tazo Tea, Earl Gray Blend, Black

***
Tazo's Earl Grey Black Tea is very perfumy. I am used to drinking super-premium tea that have the real bergamot added, not the essence. So this tea tasted to me like regular black tea with a very, very strong bergamot-like flavor. I definitely did not care for it, although I love Earl Grey teas in general. On the paper tea packet, Tazo writes, "a more aromatic version of the Earl's traditional black tea scented with the essence of bergamot"; therein lies the problem---a little too perfumy and scented for me. On their web site, Tazo describes the flavor profile of Passion as "floral, lavender, fragrant, spicy, lemon". Tazo describes the aroma as "citrus, lavender, light smoke". You may like it; apparently the other reviewers so far do, but it is not for me at all.

Also, be careful of letting this tea brew too long accidently. Even a few minutes too long results in a bitter, bitter tea, reminiscent of orange pekoe with a strong perfume added. What a letdown! Even properly brewed, though, this tea cannot, in my opinion, warrant more than three stars.

The ingredients in Earl Grey are just black teas and bergamot essence. Note that Earl Grey does contain caffeine.

Tazo is an interesting company that makes only super premium teas. They are socially responsible, based in Portland, and have the motto, "The Reincarnation of Tea". Tazo is owned by Starbucks. Their web site is fun and quirky, with a Zen-type focus, definitely worth checking out. It is unclear, though, from their web site, how many of their ingredients are organic or kosher, and they do use some "natural flavors" in their teas--this wording seems a little vague for a super premium tea.

DeLonghi DC 76T Coffee Maker

I couldn't believe it when I read previous reviews about broken latch on filter basket. My husband had a computer cable wrapped around it this morning. I prefer duct tape. This is ridiculous!!!
